Cooker & hob installation in Irvine for electric cookers, built-in ovens and induction hobs. We check your circuit can handle the new appliance, then connect, test and certify it, with a free quote first.
Induction hobs and double ovens can draw far more power than older cookers. If your existing cooker circuit was wired years ago with a smaller cable, it may not be safe for a new appliance. Checking the rating plate against your circuit first saves a nasty surprise on fitting day.
A built-in oven and a separate hob can sometimes share one cooker circuit, depending on their combined load and the cable size. Other times they each need their own supply. We work out which applies from the appliance ratings and the existing wiring.
Every cooker or hob circuit needs a cooker switch, usually a large double-pole switch on the wall beside the appliance, so the power can be cut quickly. It should be within easy reach but not directly above the hob, where you'd have to stretch over the heat.
Send us the models you're fitting, and we'll check their ratings against your existing circuit, cooker switch and consumer unit. If a new cable is needed, we include it in your free quote, along with any changes to the board.
On the day, we isolate the circuit, disconnect the old appliance if needed, connect the new cooker or hob to a suitable outlet and test the circuit. We check everything works before we leave and give you a certificate wherever new wiring has been added.
Tell us what the problem is or what you'd like done. We aim to respond the same day.
We look at the job and give you a free quote, with no obligation and no call-out charge.
We carry out the work, test everything we've worked on and leave you the right certificate for the job.
Most full-size induction hobs can't, because they draw far more than a 13 amp socket can supply. They need a hard-wired connection on a dedicated cooker circuit. A few small two-ring hobs come with a plug, so check the instructions and rating plate before you buy.
It might. It depends on the cable size, the breaker rating and the power of the hob. Older circuits were often wired for less powerful cookers. We check all three and tell you whether the existing circuit is fine or a new one is needed.
Yes, usually. If the circuit is suitable, connecting an oven and hob together often takes a couple of hours. If a new cable is needed from the consumer unit, it takes longer, and we'll let you know how long when we quote.
Yes. We can safely disconnect your old cooker or hob so it's ready to be taken away, and fit the new one in its place. Many retailers collect old appliances on delivery, so it's worth asking them about removal when you place your order.
