EV charger repair & servicing in Irvine for chargers that won't start, keep tripping or have dropped offline. We test the supply and the charger to find the cause, and service units to keep them reliable.
A charger that shows an error light, won't start a session, stops part-way through or keeps tripping the consumer unit has a fault somewhere. It might be the supply, the protection, a damaged cable or plug, a failed part inside the unit or a software problem.
Smart chargers need a steady internet connection for their app and scheduled charging. If the Wi-Fi signal at the charger is weak, the unit may drop offline or miss its schedule. Sometimes moving the router, adding a signal booster or a wired connection fixes it.
A service checks the charger casing, cable and plug for wear, tightens connections, tests the RCD and other protection, checks the earthing and confirms the charger delivers full power. We also check for software updates, so it keeps working as it should.
Tell us the make of charger, any error codes or lights you can see and what happens when you plug in. On site, we check the supply and protection at the consumer unit first, then test the charger and its cable to narrow down the fault.
Many faults are fixed on the first visit. If a part has failed inside the charger, we tell you whether it should be covered by the maker's warranty and what the next step is, or price the repair or a replacement. We retest everything before we leave.
Tell us what the problem is or what you'd like done. We aim to respond the same day.
We look at the job and give you a free quote, with no obligation and no call-out charge.
We carry out the work, test everything we've worked on and leave you the right certificate for the job.
It's often caused by water getting into the charger or plug, a fault in the car's charging system, a damaged cable or protection that's too sensitive for the circuit. Try charging another car if you can, as that shows whether the fault is with the car or the charger.
We can test the supply, wiring and protection for any make, and fix faults there. Faults inside the charger itself sometimes need parts or software support from the maker, especially while it's under warranty. We'll tell you which applies once we've tested it.
Makers' advice varies, but a yearly check is a sensible guide, especially for chargers outside in all weather. Chargers used at work or by several cars benefit from more regular checks, as their cables and plugs see much heavier use.
Not usually. An offline charger has often just lost its Wi-Fi or mobile connection. It may still charge with its default settings, but scheduling and app control won't work. Restart your router and the charger first, and if it stays offline, we can check the signal at the charger.
