Outdoor & garden lighting in Irvine for paths, patios, borders, driveways and walls. We plan lighting that suits your garden and fit weatherproof fittings on safe, RCD-protected circuits, with a free quote first.
Garden lighting can run at mains voltage or at 12 volts through a transformer. Low voltage systems are easy to extend and safer if a cable is cut, while mains fittings suit wall lights and brighter features. Many gardens use a mix of both.
Outdoor fittings need a high IP rating so rain can't get in, and cables must be protected from spades, mowers and frost. Every outdoor circuit needs RCD protection, so the power cuts off quickly if anything goes wrong in the wet.
Lights placed low along a path, uplights under a tree and soft wall lights on a patio look better than one bright floodlight. Warm white light and fittings tucked out of sight let you see the garden rather than the lights, and avoid glare for neighbours.
We walk round the garden with you, ideally at dusk, to agree which areas to light and where switches or timers should go. We work out cable routes, any trenching and the supply from the house, then give you a free quote for the full installation.
On the day, we run and protect the cables, fit the lights and any transformers, sensors or timers, and connect everything to an RCD-protected circuit. We test it all and, where we can, check the effect with you once it's dark enough to see.
Tell us what the problem is or what you'd like done. We aim to respond the same day.
We look at the job and give you a free quote, with no obligation and no call-out charge.
We carry out the work, test everything we've worked on and leave you the right certificate for the job.
Yes. Garden lights are often controlled by a switch inside the back door, a timer, a dusk sensor or a smart switch you can use from your phone. Many people combine them, so the lights come on at dusk and switch off at a set time.
Not always. Cables can often run along walls, fences or under decking. Where they cross a lawn or border, they're buried in a shallow trench and protected, or a low voltage system can be used. We plan routes that avoid digging where possible.
Yes. Small LED deck lights and step lights can be set into decking boards, risers or patio walls. They're usually low voltage, which makes them simple to install and safe underfoot. It's easiest to plan them before decking is built, but they can be added afterwards.
It shouldn't if it's planned well. Pointing lights down or at features, using warm white, fitting hoods or shields and avoiding very bright floodlights all keep light where you want it. We position fittings so they light your garden rather than the houses next door.
