Electric car charger installation in Irvine for new and existing EV owners. We match the charger to your car and parking, fit it on its own circuit and set it up, so charging at home is easy from day one.
Every electric car has an onboard charger that limits how fast it can take power. Most charge at up to 7kW on a single-phase home supply, which suits the majority of homes. Some can take 11kW, but that needs a three-phase supply, which most houses don't have.
If you've ordered a new electric car, it's worth booking the charger early. The survey, any supply changes and the install itself can then happen before delivery day, so you can plug in on the first night instead of relying on a public charger or the three-pin lead.
Plug-in hybrids have smaller batteries and often charge at lower power, so a full charge may take only a few hours. A home charger still makes sense, as it's safer and quicker than a three-pin plug, and it's ready if your next car is fully electric.
Tell us the car you have or have ordered and where you park. We survey the supply and the cable route, then recommend a charger that matches the car's charging speed and your budget, and give you a free quote that covers everything needed to get it working.
On fitting day, we mount and wire the charger, test it on its own circuit and help you set it up. If the car has already arrived, we can check it charges properly before we leave, and you'll have the certificate for your records.
Tell us what the problem is or what you'd like done. We aim to respond the same day.
We look at the job and give you a free quote, with no obligation and no call-out charge.
We carry out the work, test everything we've worked on and leave you the right certificate for the job.
For most homes, a 7kW smart charger is the right choice, as it matches the onboard charger of most cars on a single-phase supply. The bigger choices are tethered or untethered, the app, and features such as solar matching. We'll suggest a few options that suit your car.
It depends on the battery size and the charger. A 7kW charger adds roughly 20 to 30 miles of range an hour, so most cars go from low to full overnight. A three-pin plug can take more than twice as long, which is why a home charger makes such a difference.
Almost certainly. Nearly all electric cars sold in the UK use the same Type 2 connector for home charging, so a charger fitted now will work with future cars too. An untethered charger also lets you use whichever cable suits the car you drive.
You don't have to, but it's worth it. Your supplier may offer an EV tariff with much cheaper overnight rates, which can make a big difference to running costs. The network operator, rather than your supplier, has to be notified about the charger, and that's part of our job.
