A full home rewire in Irvine replaces every cable, socket, switch and the consumer unit with modern wiring that suits how you live now. We plan the work to keep disruption down, with a free quote first.
Wiring has a long life but doesn't last forever. Rubber or fabric-covered cable, round-pin sockets, light switches beside a bath, or an EICR that lists several C2 codes are common signs. So is a house where extension leads have quietly become a permanent fix.
A rewire happens in two stages. First fix runs new cables under floors and into walls before any plastering. Second fix comes once the walls are repaired, when sockets, switches and fittings go on and the new consumer unit is connected and tested.
A rewire is the chance to put sockets where you need them, add USB outlets, outside power, data points or a supply for an EV charger, and move switches to sensible places. It costs far less to add these now than to cut into new plaster later.
We walk round the house with you first, room by room, agreeing where sockets, switches and lights should go. Your quote sets out the scope, the likely timescale and what you'll need to do beforehand, such as lifting carpets or emptying cupboards.
During first fix there's dust and noise, and floorboards come up, so many people move out for a few days or live in one or two rooms. After plastering, we complete the second fix, test every circuit and issue an Electrical Installation Certificate for the new installation.
Tell us what the problem is or what you'd like done. We aim to respond the same day.
We look at the job and give you a free quote, with no obligation and no call-out charge.
We carry out the work, test everything we've worked on and leave you the right certificate for the job.
Most two or three-bedroom homes take between one and two weeks for the electrical work, plus time for plastering between first and second fix. Larger houses or those with solid walls can take longer. We'll give you a timeline along with your quote.
It's possible but can be hard going. First fix brings dust, lifted floors and power off for parts of the day. Many people stay elsewhere for a few days, or clear one room to live in while the work moves through the rest of the house.
The size of the property, how many sockets and lights you want, the type of walls and floors, and whether the house is empty all affect the price. Extras such as outside power or data points add to it. You'll get a free quote after the walk-round.
Some damage can't be avoided, as cables run inside walls and under floors. We keep chasing as small as possible and reuse existing routes where they're safe. You'll need a plasterer to make good afterwards, so it's best to rewire before decorating rather than after.
